The Secret
By Ken Blanchard
– Become a good listener
– How much do you know about the people that work for you?
– Skills are important to good leadership, but character is more important. – Great leaders serve.
– People can serve without leading, but they cannot lead well without serving.
– If you’re not passionate about something in the future, something that is out there to work for, then those that work with you will not be passionate either.
– Leader ship is about taking people from one place to another.
– Great leaders ask good questions.
– Where do you want your team to be in 5 years?
– Engage others
– Select the right people.
– Others suffer when there’s a poor performer on the team.
– Have right people doing the right jobs.
– Engage people’s heads and hearts, not just their hands.
– The best leaders develop others. What are you doing to develop those around you? – Keep learning. Stop learning and you will stop leading.
– You must have fresh ideas just to keep up with those around you. – Who are your mentors? What are you reading or listening to in order to grow?
– Good leaders value both results and relationships. Success includes both of these, not just one of them.
– Listen, invest time, and value relationships.
– What are some ways you’ve expressed appreciation for work well done within the the last 30 days?
– If people can’t continue on without you, you have not done a good job preparing leaders.
– The leaders objective is to strengthen the weaknesses of others, and make irrelevant their own weaknesses.
– Are you a serving leader or a self-serving leader?
