Become a good listener  

How much do you know about the people that work for you? 

Skills are important to good leadership, but character is more important.  Great leaders serve.  

People can serve without leading, but they cannot lead well without serving. 

If you’re not passionate about something in the future, something that is out there to  work for, then those that work with you will not be passionate either. 

Leader ship is about taking people from one place to another. 

Great leaders ask good questions.  

Where do you want your team to be in 5 years?  

Engage others  

Select the right people.  

Others suffer when there’s a poor performer on the team.  

Have right people doing the right jobs.  

Engage people’s heads and hearts, not just their hands.  

The best leaders develop others. What are you doing to develop those around you? Keep learning. Stop learning and you will stop leading. 

You must have fresh ideas just to keep up with those around you. Who are your mentors? What are you reading or listening to in order to grow?  

Good leaders value both results and relationships. Success includes both of these,  not just one of them. 

Listen, invest time, and value relationships.  

What are some ways you’ve expressed appreciation for work well done within the  the last 30 days? 

If people can’t continue on without you, you have not done a good job preparing  leaders. 

The leaders objective is to strengthen the weaknesses of others, and make irrelevant  their own weaknesses.  

Are you a serving leader or a self-serving leader?
